Top rice exporters in the world

Rice is the staple food of most countries in the world. In Asia and Africa in particular, rice is the mainstay of the diet. The demand for food is rising in line with the world’s growing population. As a result, some countries have to import rice from other countries because they do not have enough rice to grow in their own country.

This time, I would like to tell the Golden Age fans about the countries that export the most rice every year to countries that need it. Which countries export the most rice?

Myanmar has grown rice mainly for many years. As an agricultural country, one-fourth of the country’s major exports come from agriculture. The country’s climate is conducive to rice cultivation. Globally, Myanmar is the seventh largest rice exporter. Myanmar’s rice exports average around 26 million tonnes a year.

Thailand ranks sixth on the list. All provinces of Thailand grow rice. Although Myanmar does not grow as much rice as Thailand, Thailand tops Myanmar’s rice export list. This is because Thais grow less rice for export. Their annual rice exports average around 32 million tonnes.

Vietnam is one of the world’s top rice exporters in Southeast Asia. A large amount of farmland is cultivated in the northern part of the Red River Delta, in the Mekong Delta, and in the southern part of the country. They export nearly 45 million tonnes of rice a year to some neighboring countries and to Africa.

Bangladesh, which accounts for about half of the country’s GDP from rice trade, also ranks fourth on the list. One-sixth of Bangladesh’s total revenue comes from the rice industry, which accounts for more than 52 million tonnes a year from global exports.

Indonesia is the world’s third largest rice producer. Java and Sumatra are the largest rice growing areas. Due to the right planting season, Indonesia has a good rice yield and can export an average of around 70 million tonnes of rice a year.

India, the world’s largest exporter of basmati rice, is the second largest exporter on the list. Basmati rice accounts for more than 70% of the country’s rice. India’s annual rice exports averaged 157.2 million tonnes.

The People’s Republic of China is the world’s largest rice producer. The country’s main agricultural areas are Jiangsu, which borders the Yangtze River; Anhui Hubei and Sichuan provinces. China exports an average of 206 million tonnes of rice a year worldwide.
